Independent Travel Consultant program is for you. This highly
rewarding, low-cost business opportunity includes everything you

Do I need travel industry experience?
No travel experience is necessary. Academy Travel will provide
you with complete training and support to help your business
Is there training?
Yes, Academy Travel offers a Sales and Marketing Guide that
provides step-by-step instructions to book Disney vacations with
the Walt Disney Travel Company through Academy Travel.
As a Disney Travel Consultant, you will be required to enroll in
the College of Disney Knowledge online education program. Upon
completion of the program, you will earn the designation of
Disney Specialist. You may also enroll in the CLIA (Cruise Line
International Association) online training.
Academy Travel also offers annual FAM (Familiarization) Trips at
select Disney locations.
You will also have access to Academy Travel’s Agent on-line
What support will I have?
You will be assigned a Sales and Marketing Manager that will
provide you with unlimited support during your training period
and throughout your association with Academy Travel. All Sales
and Marketing Manager share extensive travel industry
Is this a part-time or full-time business?
It is what ever you want it to be, some make it a full time
business promoting themselves year round everyday, others just
sell to family and friends for a supplemental income and great
How much will I earn?
You will receive 60% of the total agency commission. For
example, if the agency is paid the standard 10% commission on a
$4000 vacation ($400), as the travel agent, you would receive
How do I get paid?
Commissions checks are mailed monthly after you clients travel
Am I an Employee of Academy Travel?
No, you are an independent contractor. You will receive a 1099
Form each year with your earnings. You are responsible for
filing this with your tax filings
Will I get leads? How do I get Clients?
Leads from our website are provided based on availability. You
will also be provided with training, collateral and support to
help you promote your travel business.
Can I Travel At A Discount?
Yes, you can travel at a discount. Certain industry restrictions
Will I receive Travel Industry Accreditations?
You will have the opportunity to earn your CLIA Accreditations,
after passing CLIA’s online course and test. You will receive a
valid ID card assuring that the highest professional standards
are met and maintained.
Should I purchase Insurance?
Errors and Omissions insurance (also called "E&O") is
professional liability insurance. It protects travel agents
against liability claims caused by errors (something the agent
does) or omissions (something the agent failed to do). Most E&O
Insurance policies provide up to $1,000,000.00 coverage. E&O
Insurance is optional, but recommended as you grow your
business. Rates vary depending on coverage and Insurance
provider. Academy Travel will provide you with a list of E&O
Can I sell more than Disney Vacations?
Yes, you can sell Universal Studios, Sea World, Florida and
Cruise Line vacations. You must first complete training for
Disney Destinations. All non-Disney vacations are commissionable
